ROUND THE ISLE OF WIGHT CHARITY SWIM: 4 SEPTEMBER 2010
- NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth that a Round the Isle of Wight Charity Relay Swim in aid of Help for Heroes and other Charities will take place on Saturday 4 September 2010.
- Six swimmers will be taking part in the event but only one swimmer will be in the water at any one time; the swimmer will be closely followed by a kayak. In addition, the Motor Cruiser DARK ANGEL acting as a Mother Craft (Call Sign MFCJ3) will be accompanying the swimmer and kayak. The DARK ANGEL will display the International Code ‘ALPHA’ Flag, in daylight hours and the lights for a vessel engaged in Special Operations during the hours of darkness whilst escorting the swimmer.
- The proposed route of the swim is from Ryde Pier going anti-clockwise around the Isle of Wight. The swim will be starting at approximately 0730 and is anticipated to finish back at Ryde Pier at approximately 2130.
- All mariners are requested to keep a good lookout and pass well clear of the swimmer and the support craft during their circumnavigation of the Isle of Wight.
